In the hand-pressing brickworks

What we offer

Expieriencing the brickworks

Guided tours, creative courses, and senior citizens’ afternoons are just
a few of the broad range of offers that will turn your visit to the Brickworks
Museum into an unforgettable experience. We also offer programmes
for school visits and children’s birthdays, alongside holiday activities,
all of which promise an exciting journey back in time to the era of brick
workers, and plenty of fun working with clay.

Every Saturday children can practise their creative skills with clay
and other materials. In addition we offer workshops for adults and
programmes for young and old alike.

A trip on the narrow-gauge railway around the clay pit and the
museum site is a real experience for the whole family. So why not climb
aboard on the first Sunday of the month from April to October?

The majority of our museum site is barrier-free. There is also a wheelchair for hire.

The Externsteine - 70 million years of history in stone

Tips for your day out

The Lippe region has many attractions for day-trippers who want to spend one of two days in the region.

For example, you can visit the LWL Open-Air Museum in Detmold: it covers 80 hectares and contains 100 buildings, making it the largest open-air museum in Germany.

A “must” for every tourist to the region is the Hermann Memorial to the battle between the Germans and the Romans in the Teutoburger Forest in 9 AD.
The Externsteine, a rock formation in Horn-Bad Meinberg is one of the region’s important cultural and natural monuments. The cliffs feature a famous religious relief, grottoes, a tomb cut into the rock, and a chapel. There is a broad network of hiking trails around the cliffs, that are also used by climbers.
