On Tuesday, the ninth of June, we had our fifth and last Comenius-Day. We presented the Greek culture to our school´s students.
The program was as follows: First, of course, Michael welcomed everybody in Greek. And this was translated by Sophia, a Greek girl from 6th grade. Then Ahlam, Lena and Tom talked about their experiences in Greece and what they liked most. Tom, for example, liked the food. The German children were very surprised to hear that in Greece people eat SNAILS !!!! Ahlam liked the school lessons and Lena complimented the host families on their hospitality. After that we sang the Greek song “Filedem”. Achim played Guitar, Sophia played tambourine and Michael, Achim and me sang the Greek words. And already the second Chorus was sung by the whole audience! Now the students could walk around and try several things. They could - listen to some more Greek music sung by Nikos Xylouris - watch photos of our trip - look at some souvenirs - eat Olives and other food - learn some Greek words with Tom - and explore the maps of Greece and Europe. At the end we had prepared something special: a Comenius-Quiz. Every class of our school had to answer some questions about our five partner countries, such as “What have the capitals of Germany and Cyprus in common?” or “How do Bulgarians usually welcome their guests?”. The classes with the most right answers were awarded and received some sweets as prize. For the elder students there was an additional little ceremony. First Marianne read out greetings from the Bulgarian and the Polish coordinators. Then she handed over the “Euro-passports” to Ahlam, Lena and Tom. And at the very end our headmaster Franz-Karl Lindner held a speech in which he reviewed the whole project and expressed his thanks for the considerable work of all participants. When everything was over, we had a very strange feeling. Now everything should be finished? No more meetings? No more contact? We all agreed: ”We don´t want this!” So let´s write emails, stay in contact, visit each other and strengthen the bridges our knowledge has built throughout the last three years. See you! Christiane |
