On Wednesday the 7th of May, the students who participated in the Comenius meeting in Pafos, including the host students, attended a music class organised by Mr. Fotos Hatziloizou, the music teacher. This was undeniably a remarkable experience!

The main subject was “How to write a song”. At first, Mr. Fotos described “the basic song structure” and “the habits of hit songwriters”. According to him, the title of the song must be impressive. “A great title is a strong title!”

Apart from that, the rhythm and the tone color are very important. Some examples -such as songs by Sunrise Avenue- were used to help us realize what makes the difference between songs with similar tempo.

In addition, we watched a part of a concert by Michael Jackson and discussed about choreography and what makes a good performance.

Mr. Fotos also highlighted that a hit song needs an interesting concept. The concept is the basic idea or the story of the song. You can sometimes be inspired by films, poetry and paintings.

Concluding, the workshop was really entertaining and we all enjoyed ourselves! It gave us the opportunity to have fun while learning about the music industry and music in general.
