Soest: Chocolate filled with liquorice, the instrument called “Kantele” or reindeer meat, these are just some of Johanna's (14), Wendy's (15) and Sergej's (16) impressions of their one week trip to the Finish town Kellokoski. The 3 pupils of the “von-Vincke-Schule” in Soest talked about their experiences to their school mates in a colourful performance.
After the greeting in Finnish “Hyvää Huomenta” (Good morning), a group of pupils presented a specially for this occasion learned Finnish folk song. In a slide show the 3 pupils showed the countryside, the sights and talked about their exciting trip. Within the exchange project called Comenius, that is financially supported by the EU, these pupils of the School for the blind and visually impaired went to Finland with 3 teachers in October. Kellokoski is 40 km away from Helsinki. High up in the European north the people from Soest also met pupils from Bulgaria, Poland, Cyprus, and Greece and together they enjoyed a large cultural program. They had already been to Bulgaria and Poland, and now they learned a lot of the Finnish way of life, just like the motto “Knowledge builds bridges”. For that purpose the teacher from Soest, Achim Heinemann,s composed the song “Knowledge builds bridges”.
