    Sean Scully. Vita Duplex

until 8 September 2019

Sean Scully. Vita Duplex

Sean Scully was born in Dublin, grew up in London and is one of today’s leading abstract painters. Presenting ninety-eight works that he has created since the 1960s, the Vita Duplex exhibition underscores his role in re-interpreting abstract art. The event has been organised jointly by the Staatliche Kunsthalle in Karlsruhe and the LWL–Museum für Kunst und Kultur in Münster, two museums whose collections include works by modern artists and old masters, making them exactly the right choice for exhibiting paintings by history-conscious Sean Scully. The works on display include pastels, watercolours, drawings, sketchbooks, engravings, acrylic paintings, oils on canvas and aluminium, some photographs and three sculptures. Vita Duplex, held in Karlsruhe until August 2018, was the first exhibition in a German-speaking country to present Sean Scully’s talents as both a painter and a writer.
