Library

With its extensive holdings (c. 118,000 volumes) the library mirrors the curatorial focus of the Museum, from the Middle Ages through the present day:

History of art and culture in Westphalia
Regional history of Westphalia and surrounding areas
Dutch art, particularly of the seventeenth century
Art of the twentieth century, classical modernism, and contemporary art

In the library you can find


reference works, catalogues of museum holdings, artist monographs, and theme-based literature
current international exhibition catalogues and collection indexes
annual publications, auction catalogues, and art sales listings
a variety of German and international magazines and academic publications

The holdings are open to the public during hours of operation, and fourteen desks are available in the reading room for use during research. Copying is permitted on site. No library loans are possible.
