There are always some of your craftsmen at their workplaces giving a demonstration of their work. Please inform about the current activities and demonstrations at the entrance of our museum.
Pottery
Between the Osnabrück farmsted and the Minden farmstead, Ralf Schulte and Marion Mense do pottery on their potter’s wheels in the ancient Hehemann pottery.
Blacksmith’s shop
When they are working you will hear the blows of their hammers while you are coming up to the village. Any kind of metal work that is needed in the museum is done by Werner Gerke and Wolfgang Göhmann in the Pollmann forge from Höxter-Godelheim.
Baker’s shop
In the centre of the village you will find the bakery in the Finkeldej-Arnecke house where you can also buy fresh bread and pastries. As our bakers, Jürgen Ronkartz and Reinhard Böinghoff, have to deal with historical work conditions and processes they can only produce a limited amount – and thus sell their breads, “mice”, crumble cakes and other sweet pastries while stocks last.
Shoemaker’s shop
Dagmar Höper shows the traditional shoemaker’s work in the Lindhorst house: forming shoes on a last and much more. Please note that we organise specific action days, e.g. “make your own (mini) slippers”.
... and more:
Please also pay attention to particular information on special events such as woodworking, textile actions and coffee roasting that we organise on various occasions. Depending on time and weather you will happen to see farm work, or you can come to one of our special action days.
