Methods
The methodical basis for the SEARCH and SEARCH II projects was the RAR method. RAR stands for ‘Rapid Assessment and Response’. The advantages of this process are that, by means of the RAR, it should be possible to assess a situation or problem quickly and gain indications for a suitable rapid response.
Eight key questions provided a basis for those involved in the SEARCH activities. By dividing the questions into two aspects – drug use and prevention measures – this emphasised that, in addition to planning preventive and intervention activities, the primary concern was to secure information on the prevalence of addiction among refugees, asylum seekers and illegal migrants.
