100 days (chrysostemos) – Sint-NiklaasThe students celebrate their last 100 days of high school ( senior years)

Police expressed the need for a prevention campaign. They had a lot of incidents during the event “100 days”. Incidents: alcohol abuse and nuisance.

Target Group

  • 13-18 year olds going to the event.
    Bar owners, nightshops, retailer.

 
Setting

  • Big festivities in the town centre of Sint-Niklaas (70 000 inh.) 

 
Intervention/Interfaces

  • Selective prevention. knowledge about legislation: respect the legislation: no alcohol selling to -16. Promote thoughtful alcohol consumption.
    Overlaps: in collaboration with youthcounceling and drug treatment centre.  

 
Partners/Cooperation

  • Different partners were involved: youthclubs, youthcounceling, drug treatment centre, retailers, police, cityhall and preventionworkers.   

 
Objectives of the project

  •  Increase the knowledge of retailers about the legislation.

  • Promote Sensible/ thoughtful alcoholconsumption amongst youngsters.

  • ASE model ( de vries, Dijkstra) as background:
    Positive attitude towards the age limit and respecting it.
    Evidenced based preventionwork ( preffi) 


Legal Background

  • Alcohol legislation: prohibited to sell alcohol to person younger than 16 year old and spirits to minors.

Substainability
